The NPGA Bill Hill Memorial Award is conferred upon an individual who, in the immediately preceding five-year period, has made outstanding and lasting contributions to the LP-gas industry in the area of government relations at the local, state or federal level. The award consists of an engraved plaque bearing the likeness of Bill Hill plus a monetary stipend given in the Award recipient’s name to an educational or scientific research institute of their choice.
The Bill Hill Memorial Award honors the memory of the late William C. Hill who, at the time of his death in 1979, was Chairman of the Board of Pargas, Inc., Waldorf, Maryland. A lawyer and an LP-gas man, Bill Hill devoted long hours of service the industry as the organizer and only Chairman of the National Committee on Propane Allocation and Price Regulations. Although he did not live to see the end of government price and allocation regulations, his tireless efforts were largely responsible for easing many of the burdens on both large and small propane marketers, producers, transporters, and wholesalers.
